Deception. A pulse-pounding raid on a terrorist warehouse. Air Force One shot down. [img]eek.gif[/img]

And next week, it looks like a couple guys stumbling across the wreckage find the Football (suitcase containing all the launch codes to the country's nuclear missles) and the terrorists pursue them. [img]eek.gif[/img]

Also, don't forget The Shield tonight. (Like I have to tell you [img]wink.gif[/img] )

Two words describe this show: "Holy" and "shit".

In my opinion, 24 could very well be better than The Shield.

I believe it definitely has not only more, but better, suspense than The Shield, at least.

This season of 24 just hasn't been as good as past seasons though. The writing just isn't as tight, and the characters (outside of Jack and to some degree Edgar) haven't been as compelling. Thank God his daughter is gone though.

I'm assuming the whole point of all this is the football. It certainly can't be to kill the President - how stupid would you have to be to blow up a train to melt down nuclear reactors just to create enough cover to steal a stealth bomber just to kill the President? Lone gunmen with mental problems have managed to do it, I don't think it would require quite that much work.

So I'm assuming it's really the football that was on Air Force one that they were after, and that makes a little more sense. How do you get the thing away from whereever it is at the White House that it's locked down? Get the President in the air first, then shoot him down. Probably the only way to do it.

Then again, wouldn't you think that something that critical would have a process in place to change all the codes and passwords almost instantaneously? Okay, maybe not, depending on how hardward dependent they are, and if the require actual physical pieces to work. Still, wouldn't there be a two phase security - sure you have those codes, but need something from someone else to actually do anything?

Well, whether or not it's actually realistic, it sure makes for some compelling drama. It's still on my very short list of appointment TV.
